Life Stuff

What do you do at RMG: Content Marketing Specialist, so I focus on writing and producing content for clients. But I’ve been dabbling into the SEO end of things and generally helping everyone where I can.

Favorite thing about your job: The culture and the people. We’re all treated like capable and competent adults. Everyone is friends here. We all help each other out, grab lunch together, and get work done.

Meet the Team: Michael Gomez - What was your first job: My dad owns a plant nursery, so I started working there after school in 7th grade. I worked there after school, on weekends, and summers throughout middle and high school. I even worked there on and off while I was getting my degree. My first job outside of the nursery was at Subway… that lasted only 2 months.

In elementary school, what did you want to be when you grew up: I wanted to be the Crocodile Hunter. I absolutely loved Steve Irwin, he was fearless, worked with animals, and just had so much passion that I wanted to do what he did.

What is your earliest memory: Yosemite National Park. I was 3 years old. I remember standing by the crystal clear river and my mom telling me not to get too close. Everyone was looking at the waterfall and I was fascinated by the river.

What is a fun or interesting thing about your hometown: Baldwin Park is home of the first ever In-N-Out Burger.

What’s your favorite family tradition: Christmas Eve. We have a potluck with family and I play Super Smash Bros all night with my cousins. It gets rowdy and competitive but it’s all in good fun. Lots of food, family, and drinks!

Food Stuff

What is your favorite cereal: Frosted Flakes or Honey Bunches of Oats with chopped up banana.

How do you like your eggs: Scrambled soft, salt and pepper, with a little bit of shredded cheddar cheese.

What’s your go-to Starbucks order: Iced coffee, 2 stevias, w/ a nitro lid. Or replace the iced coffee with an iced peach white tea.

If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life what would it be: Chicken Teriyaki bowl with veggies. Feels like the best balanced choice. Plus I really like chicken teriyaki, especially with Sriracha.

Favorite Stuff

Meet the Team: Michael Gomez - CrowdFavorite band/musician: That’s too hard to narrow down to just one. But some of my favorites are Tame Impala, Jack White, Muse, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and I’m also a big fan of original scores and classical music.

Favorite movie: Does The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition on Blu-ray count as one movie? If so, that’s my answer.

Favorite actor/actress: Will Ferrell. His recent movies haven’t been the best but he’s still my favorite.

Favorite sports team: Lakers, been a fan since I was a kid.

Favorite TV show: Oh that’s tough, I can’t pick just one. I’ll list a few: Invader Zim, Regular Show, Cowboy Bebop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Office, Parks and Rec., Futurama, Ghost Adventures, and Man vs. Wild. That’s a lot but I still feel like I missed a ton.

Favorite superpower: Super Speed or Electricity. Super speed feels like it might be a curse after a while because I can already be a bit impatient to begin with.

Favorite social media network: Twitter. You can get news, updates, and laughs all relatively easily.

Top three favorite apps: Reddit, Twitter, Amazon

Hobby & Travel Stuff

What are your hobbies: I like playing video games with friends. I also try to write something creative whenever I can, whether it’s a poem or a short story. I’ve also been ramping up my reading. Lately, I’ve been working on making my own greeting cards, it’s something I’m really enjoying.

What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time: I really like reading lore of different worlds and occasionally contribute. I once wrote a piece about invasive species of fishes in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Can you play any instruments: Drums and bass…just not very good.

Do you collect anything: No actually but I do want to start collecting all of the Everyman’s Library Pocket Poets series as well as all of the National Audubon Society Field Guides.

What are the last three books you read: Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, and The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr

Most recent vacation: Camping in the Sequoia National Forest, at the Kern River.

What’s your favorite city/state/country you’ve ever visited: I really love the San Diego Zoo. It’s just such a great place to visit. Despite how popular it is it always feels like you can find a little spot all to yourself. And they do amazing work for conservation efforts.

Random Stuff

If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be: Ernest Hemingway sounds like the perfect combination of hearty conversation and comfortable silence.

At which store would you like to max out your credit card: Target. It’s easy enough for me to get out of hand as it is. I could buy clothes, shoes, home decor, and basically everything I want or need.

Do you have any strange phobias: Not sure. Can’t think of any.

Have you ever met anyone famous: The most famous person I’ve met is Kirsten Arian, she has a song in the Lego Batman movie. She’s a close friend of a friend and incredibly amicable.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant, what would it be: Coding, hands down. It would be incredibly useful and open up a ton of opportunities both professionally and creatively.

If you could choose one age to be forever, what would it be: 24 was pretty cool but maybe in a couple years I’ll give you another answer.

What characteristic do you like most about yourself: My brother told me I’m really inquisitive and like to look things up and find answers. I took that as a huge compliment, so I’ll say that.

Have you had your 15 minutes of fame yet: No.
